Frankfurt General Assembly

The world is changing fast — and Europe must rise to meet this moment with courage and clarity. Volt believes in a Europe that can stand on its own. Strong, smart, sovereign — not in isolation, but in unity.

There’s a rare power in what Volt stands for: unity with purpose. At this year’s General Assembly in Frankfurt, that vision takes form in engaging speeches and discussions as we meet and engage one another in person — people who we’ve worked with side-by-side year-long, across borders, often without ever having met in person. This is more than a meeting. It’s the coming together of a pan-European family.

Throughout the year, Volt’s volunteers build policies, lead teams, and dream across time zones — over topics from AI to defence, policies on helping sustainability to policies on fighting disinformation, and countless other digicoms. And then, for one weekend, we gather in one place. To laugh, to learn, to realign — and to remember why we’re building together.

It is no coincidence this year’s General Assembly is to be held in Frankfurt. From the very first medieval autumn harvest fair dating back to the year 1150 AD (in fact the Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse aka Frankfurt Stock Exchange was born out of this) to the largest internet exchange point (DE-CIX) where all of Europe’s peak data traffic converge, the city has had a history of bringing Europe together. Shaped by commerce, currency, and continental vision, Frankfurt reminds us that collaboration is Europe’s oldest strength — and the key to its future. It is time for Europe to stretch its wings.

As the U.S. shifts its stance and new global powers assert themselves, the stakes are rising: from the rare Earth minerals race to climate security, from digital sovereignty to democratic resilience. In the face of war on our borders and shifting alliances, Europe cannot afford to be a bystander. We must become builders — of peace, of prosperity, of purpose. So that we can navigate the geopolitical tensions, rare resource struggles, and participate in the rise of deep tech to surf the shifting balance of power. Europe must stop waiting — and start leading.

In this spirit, the GA is our moment to reconnect, realign, and reimagine. Through workshops, keynotes, and strategy sessions, we’ll sharpen our tools and strengthen our community. Together, we’ll look toward the 2029 elections with confidence — and walk away with the skills, clarity, and trust to lead the charge in our local chapters and online communities.

But above all, this GA is a celebration. A celebration of our people — our volunteers, our teams, our elected leaders — and the living vision of a truly united Europe.

Volt is the spark. We are not here to replicate the past. We are here to shape the future.
